Kiwifitness for Life have organised the Surf ‘n Turf aquathon series, open water swimming and running events.

The aquathon is a sea swim followed by a run.

Surf n’ Turf aquathon events are open to the general public and suit health levels from everyday competitors to strong athletes.

The Surf ‘n Turf Aquathon Series, on in Christchurch and worth the distance, is on January 21 to February 25.

Join thousands of people and support the 2009 CTOS Surf to City Fun Walk/Run/Ride.

Walk run or ride 11.5km from Oreti Beach to Queens Park to raise funds for charity.

There will also be a 2km Kids in the City run, totally free.

Head down to Southland for the CTOS Surf to City Fun Run/Ride on February 15.

The 2008 Westpac Halberg Trust Awards will be held early next year.

The event for the Trust, supporting and encouraging disabled people in active life, will also have a Pre-Dinner Cocktail Function.

The Lady Killers, the Warratahs and Groove Assembly will play the Sounds and Nature Outdoor Charity Concert.

The concert will be held in the beautiful Nga Manu Nature Reserve, and will help raise funds for the Nga Manu Trust and NZ Breast Cancer Foundation.

There will be all kinds of entertainment, including an auction, and fun to be had for the whole family on the day.

Jose Carreras will perform an exclusive concert in support of the Leukemia and Blood Foundation.

Considered one of the world’s greatest tenors, Carreras will perform only one show with the Vector Wellington Orchestra, and guest Soprano Anna Leese.

The event is a fully seated outdoor concert at the Elephant Hill Estate and Winery.

Julia Grace, Luke Thompson (pictured), The Pa Mwamba Singers and other acts will play a free Christmas festival for Auckland City Mission.

The festival will have carol singing and candles for the communities of Central Auckland and will raise funds for the Auckland City Mission Christmas Appeal.

The Auckland City Mission free Christmas festival is on December 20, at the Tahaki Reserve.

Rugby Union player Keven Mealamu has illustrated storybooks to help raise funds for the Starship Foundation.

Mealamu worked on drawing pictures for the story, Room 22 and Jumbo, the monster caterpillar written by the Room 22 nine to eleven year olds at Colwill School with renowned children’s author John Parker, during the 2008 international rugby series.

Proceeds from the limited edition Keven Mealamu books will go to Starship.

Concert goers at the event, held at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Parnell, will hear a selection of classical pieces and carols, and then light candles and join in singing Silent Night.
